PR Pitch Calendar

Are you handling PR for your business? If so I suggest that you create a Public Relations calendar. Creating a PR calendar on a six-month or annual basis will create the following avenues:

  1. Organization! You know what magazines you want to be featured in but did you know that magazines have a lead-time of 3-6 months when researching and writing stories? This means that if you want to be listed in a holiday gift guide you need to submit your products during the months of May, June & July to even be considered! So get on it!

  2. Pitch Planning! With a PR calendar plan to pitch the media about product or service launches, something that is newsworthy and relevant to the outlet. Consider annual holidays and local, regional and national events that you know are going to get coverage. Lastly, plan the type of pitch you want to execute for each outlet.

  3. Annual Outlook! A public relations calendar will give you a complete look at what you expect to pitch for the year. Things might change on your calendar but the point is to complete your calendar so that when changes arise you’re ready to adjust without scrambling at the last minute.
